Florianópolis is moving forward with a strategy to establish an ecosystem that ranks among the largest in Latin America
The Florianópolis Municipal Innovation Council (CMI) held a special meeting last Wednesday (21) to define new strategic directions for the capital’s innovation ecosystem.
Among the highlights of the meeting was a discussion on Florianópolis’s ranking in the Startup Genome report, a global benchmark for startup ecosystems. Currently ranked 13th in Latin America, the city plans to move forward with a joint communication strategy to increase its international visibility.
The Council also approved the advancement of a regional collaboration with other innovation ecosystems to compete in the 2027 ranking as an integrated region. The initiative aims to position the region among Latin America’s leading innovation hubs and increase its appeal to international investors.
Another topic discussed was the strengthening of Innovation Promotion Arrangements (APIs), with a focus on specialization and global competitive positioning. During the meeting, the accreditation of the Fintech Floripa API was approved, along with the repositioning of priority areas such as Industry 4.0, Energy, and Health.
The meeting also marked an update to the Innovation Incentive Program (PII). Among the approved changes are the adoption of an annual schedule for project submissions and new measures aimed at enhancing the program’s transparency, predictability, and legal certainty.
The Municipal Innovation Council brings together representatives from government, educational institutions, business entities, and organizations linked to the technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Florianópolis.
